Huge update on A Crooked Heart. Juan and I have been establishing character and environment rules such as modular assets, character size, jump height etc. 
The biggest part we worked out was Lulu’s attack and environment traversal.

New test puzzle

Lulu will be able to push but not pull most objects. We will establish a pattern for objects she can pull like small boxes or wooden pallets. Her inability to pull objects she can’t grip onto is a limitation the player will have to work around in some puzzles. In this test puzzle she will use the 360 throw, pull and push.

Puzzle test in Unity

Juan put together a test level in Unity based off the puzzle concept. It’s a quick build so the boxes have little weight and it’s missing the 360 attack/throw that disconnects the arm using a piece of rubble. But I love being able to interact with the idea and start to work out the mechanics. For instance, Lulu will only be able to push boxes. Taking away the players ability to pull will force us to design around that and make the player think about how to approach the world and puzzle with that limitation.



Ground Fx aren’t done because until I get it in the engine and interact, I really have no idea what to do. I spent 3 hours going through all kinds of ideas and each one made me nauseous. For now, here is one of the attacks from this creature.
